MY FAVORITE SUMMER HOME-MADE BEAUTY PRODUCTS

MY FAVORITE SUMMER HOME-MADE BEAUTY PRODUCTS
As you know, I have been making my own beauty products for a while now and I have to say that I would never go back to the store-bought ones. Not only the home-made products are cheaper to make but they are also much better for you and the environment.

As you can imagine, packing to come to Spain for 7 weeks with 2 kids is no easy task. Although we already have god few things here in our summer-house, the suitcases were still full and there is a lot to bring between clothes, toys, books… you know the drill. But it is a relief to know that I don’t have to bring my favorite beauty products as I can make them over there with some basic ingredients.

So this week I will be making my favorite scrubs to get my skin ready for the sun, and my favorite facial masks for my skin to feel amazing.

I have slowly been introducing it into my skin care routine lately and I am delighted with it but there are so many other ways to use this incredible and natural product that it is mind boggling.

# 1 – It is a great ingredient for your home-made face masks.

# 2 – It acts as a moisturizer on all types of skin, including dry skin.

# 3 – It helps in treating various skin problems including psoriasis, dermatitis, eczema and other skin infections.

# 4 – It works as a wonderful hair conditioner and it helps the re-growth process of damaged hair – rub into dry hair.

# 5 – It can help you maintain your scalp dandruff free by regularly massaging your head with coconut oil.

# 6 – It can be used as a natural shaving cream and after shave lotion.

#7 – It works as an amazing eye make-up remover.

# 8 – It can reduce the itch of mosquito bites.

# 9 – It will help healing sunburn after the initial heat is gone.

# 12 – It can be used as lip-balm.

# 13 – Used topically will get rid off  yeast infections.

# 14 – It makes a delicious tropical massage oil.

# 15 – Mixed with salt it will remove the dead skin on your feet

# 16 – It speeds up the healing process of damaged tissues or bruises.

# 17 – It is ideal to mix with essential oils to apply directly into the skin.

# 18 – Mixed with catnip, rosemary, or mint essential oils works as a natural repellent

# 19 – It is is very effective against a variety of infections due to its anti-fungal, antiviral, and antibacterial properties.

# 20 – It restores cast iron skillets

I will definitely be embracing more of these amazing uses, especially now that we are (hopefully) entering a warmer time of the year.

HONEY, LEMON AND COCONUT OIL FACE MASK

For a while now I have been trying to make my own natural beauty products : a body scrub, a lip balm, a lip scrub, a face mask… and I am delighted with the results. I wouldn’t go back to store bought products. Not only because it saves a considerable amount of money (which it does) but you know that everything that you put on is natural and you have absolute control on the quality of the products.

Today I wanted to share with you another face mask recipe with coconut oil that would leave you feeling amazing.
Coconut oil is naturally rich in antioxidants and healthy acids, it will soften and lubricate healthy skin cells, break down dead cells, heal acne, and hydrate skin. Coconut oil is the super-hero of oils, if you ask me.

Honey and lemon are great too.
Honey is a natural moisturizer, contains antibacterial, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, fights acne and pimples., fades acne scars and blemishes and you can eat it!!!
Lemon is a natural astringent, which tightens and shrinks large pores and it has antibacterial properties that kills acne causing bacteria.

Combine the above ingredients thoroughly in a small mixing bowl.
Apply a thick coat of the mixture onto your clean face.
Allow the mixture to sink in for 10 minutes. Rinse off with cool water.
Pat dry with a soft towel and feel like a beautiful super-hero

Have a beautiful weekend.
