As you know, I have been making my own beauty products for a while now and I have to say that I would never go back to the store-bought ones. Not only the home-made products are cheaper to make but they are also much better for you and the environment.
As you can imagine, packing to come to Spain for 7 weeks with 2 kids is no easy task. Although we already have god few things here in our summer-house, the suitcases were still full and there is a lot to bring between clothes, toys, books… you know the drill. But it is a relief to know that I don’t have to bring my favorite beauty products as I can make them over there with some basic ingredients.
So this week I will be making my favorite scrubs to get my skin ready for the sun, and my favorite facial masks for my skin to feel amazing.
Coconut oil is an amazing product. Its health benefits include hair care, skin care, stress relief, cholesterol level maintenance, weight loss, boosted immune system, proper digestion and regulated metabolism. An all round wonderful product don’t you think? I have slowly been introducing it into my skin care routine lately and I am delighted with it but there are so many other ways to use this incredible and natural product that it is mind boggling.
For a while now I have been trying to make my own natural beauty products : a body scrub, a lip balm, a lip scrub, a face mask… and I am delighted with the results. I wouldn’t go back to store bought products. Not only because it saves a considerable amount of money (which it does) but you know that everything that you put on is natural and you have absolute control on the quality of the products.
Today I wanted to share with you another face mask recipe with coconut oil that would leave you feeling amazing.
Coconut oil is naturally rich in antioxidants and healthy acids, it will soften and lubricate healthy skin cells, break down dead cells, heal acne, and hydrate skin. Coconut oil is the super-hero of oils, if you ask me.
Honey and lemon are great too.
Honey is a natural moisturizer, contains antibacterial, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, fights acne and pimples., fades acne scars and blemishes and you can eat it!!!
Lemon is a natural astringent, which tightens and shrinks large pores and it has antibacterial properties that kills acne causing bacteria.
Combine the above ingredients thoroughly in a small mixing bowl.
Apply a thick coat of the mixture onto your clean face.
Allow the mixture to sink in for 10 minutes. Rinse off with cool water.
Pat dry with a soft towel and feel like a beautiful super-hero
