A while ago, I was walking around shops looking into second-hand shops and rummaging in the discounted baskets in different shops when I came across these Bathrooms Rules.
I had been looking for something similar for the boy’s bathroom for a while and this was perfect – a nice and fun reminder to what the rules of the bathroom are, without being to childish. The frame was reduced was due to some damage but that was not going to stop me as I wanted to paint with chalk paint it anyway.
I love painting with chalk paint. There is no preparation, no sanding, no messing. Just clean and paint. Love it.
I wanted a bit of a distressed look on the frame so I used some fine grit sandpaper on the edges and then I applied some clear wax to it and buffed it up.
I am very happy with the result. It is a nice mixture of fun, serious, old and up-cycled that works well in the bathroom for the boys and for our Airbnb guests (although I am hoping that they would remember all those things without the need of a reminder).
