I have been wanting to make my own body scrub for ages now so this week I made a decision to put aside some time to do a little research and do it for once and for all. After about 5 minutes, I realised that it is in fact a very easy process (yay!!!) and that I had all that I needed around the house (double yay!!)
When it comes to body scrubs, there are a couple of decisions to be made (don’t worry, nothing major):
– Do you want a sugar or salt scrub? I decided to go with white sugar as I usually have some (few) cuts in my knees and hands (don’t ask…) and I was worried that the salt would irritate my skin. If you have very sensitive skin, brown sugar is the way to go.
– What kind of oil do you want to use? I decided to make mine with olive oil (well, I am Spanish after all…) as I wanted to make a body scrub with things I had around the house. You can also use coconut oil, baby oil, sweet almond oil… whatever takes your fancy or you have handy.
– Choose your essential oil. I used a lavender oil as it is very relaxing, it removes nervous tension and pain, disinfects the scalp and the skin and enhances circulation. Oh, and it smells fab!
You want 1 part oil to 2 parts sugar, plus around 5 drops of your essential oil. Mix together with a spoon and you are done! You can now start scrubbing – you will feel amazing!!!
It actually makes a very lovely (and inexpensive) present to a friend, a teacher or to yourself… because we all need presents sometimes…
Have a great day people,
